Art succes
in a private care institution
in a private care institution
A huge compliment. That is certainly what it was when I heard about it. Through Noor van de Ven of my Galerie Persoon in Eersel, a private care institution in Brabant had chosen a canvas of mine to borrow. The colorful canvas was to hang in the hall where all residents passed by once a day. After six months of art rental, the management had to exchange the canvas for another one or purchase it. After consulting with the residents' group, as well as the staff, they did not want to let the canvas go. It has now been bought. This shows that art in your interior is very important. People react to your use of color. They dream up their own images. They might even recall memories. The suggestion of sunlight filtering through the trees is a source of enjoyment. I do that myself, and so it comes across well. It is a small moment in the day that I enjoy every time. I often lie under the more than 100-year-old plane tree in our garden. But you can also enjoy looking through the canopy of the trees elsewhere. Small moments are very important to me as a way to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
A moment of peace. A moment to breathe. A moment to feel my feet. I would have loved to hear the reactions of the people in the private care facility to my work. A fly-on-the-wall feeling. Or perhaps to take some photos of it myself at the location itself. However, due to privacy concerns, this is not possible. Understandable. But this way, I can still talk about it. It gives me pleasure to make people happy with my paintings. For instance, I am currently working on a commission. The lady actually wanted me to enlarge a 120 cm canvas to 150 cm. Unfortunately, I cannot do that. All canvases are unique. Exactly replicating them is impossible and undesirable. Without any obligation to purchase, I proposed making a 150 cm one in approximately the same color scheme. The same atmosphere, so to speak. The lady can then see, through a trial placement, if the canvas fits into her interior. If it doesn't fit, no problem. Since oil paint takes quite a while to dry, some patience is required.
